For those not already familiar with Ed's colorful, jazz-based arrangements of Zappa's compositions, Ed has led a big band for 30 years (!) and has had his band performing the music of Frank Zappa for 15 years.

Rhizosphere, originally released in 1976, was Pinhas' first solo album. It consists of four solo pieces for synthesizer, plus a extended fifth synthesizer piece which is a duet with Heldon drummer Francois Auguer. I have always found it to be a mesmerizing work, on par with its influences of Terry Riley and Philip Glass, but completely different from them due to the usage of only Moog and ARP synthesizers.

Positive Catastrophe is the brainchild of Taylor Ho Bynum (cornet) and Abraham Gomez-Delgado (percussion). REVOLUTIONARY SNAKE ENSAMBLE - Forked Tongue
The first thing to know about the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is that they are FUN. A lot of fun. Based upon and expanding greatly on the famous tradition of marching bands of New Orleans, the band is 7 or more players in wild, Sun Ra-inspired costumes on saxes, trombones, trumpets, double bass and drums and percussion. While almost always featuring a groove, the band's influences also include free jazz, trance musics and more, along with the obvious New Orleans second-line and funk music influences.

UNIVERS ZERO - Clivages
Founding members of the original "Rock In Opposition" [R.I.O.] movement and the inventors of "chamber rock", Univers Zero have continued to change and grow and develop over their entire career, while still keeping a ensemble sound and spirit that is easily recognizable. Clivages is their first studio album in over five years, but much more importantly, it is their first studio release in over 20 years - since 1986's Heatwave - to feature the energy and sound of a working, rehearsing, live ensemble performing in the studio!
UNIVERS ZERO - Univers Zero (expanded/remixed/remastered)
Over 30 years ago, after 3 years of work and rehearsals, a group of seven unknown Belgian musicians gathered in a small basement studio to record their first album, which they released themselves in a tiny edition of 500 copies. The album was untitled, but the catalog number was “1313”, which the album later became known by. The power and originality of their creation turned heads and all these years later, this album is rightly considered the beginning of the ‘chamber-rock’ movement as well as a classic of the genre. With the release of their first album, Univers Zero went on to co-found the hugely influential “Rock in Opposition” movement with four similarly-minded bands.
